ELC Director
Early Learning Camps Preschool is celebrating their 5th year here in the Washington Area. Teacher Julie is the Director and instructor of this school. She has a strong passion for teaching children, but started out as a television news anchor and reporter for NBC and ABC affiliates in Las Vegas, NV, Santa Maria, CA, and Helena, MT. Julie wanted to have a strong direct impact on people's lives, not just report on them and that's when she decided to go back to school where she earned a Masters in Education, a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential for Elementary level students, and became certified to teach English Language Learners. With more than 6 years of teaching experience in elementary schools, and more than 7 years teaching experience in her own school, Julie is well qualified to effectively motivate children to learn pertinent materials that will help them to grasp new levels of learning in the future. Julie started Early Learning Camps in 2002 as a tutoring program, while she was living in Southern California and teaching Kindergarten. Early Learning Camps opened it’s school in Washington in the summer of 2007 when she moved to Sammamish with her family.
While teaching in California, she spent several years instructing students who spoke English as a second language. She was able to teach these Kindergarten students that had no preschool experience to read and to speak English within their first year of school.
This teaching experience and news background, has lead her to create a preschool program that combines what she finds to be the best learning materials mixed with her own ideas and creative way of teaching to help children learn. This unique program is adaptable to each student’s skill level and allows children of mixed ages to be in the same classroom for vital socialization skills.
